We got there at sunset and it was so beautiful! The sun was hitting the water so fantastically! Definitely a great way to end it! Now here are a few tips: 1) Dont go on Saturday. We ended at the Seven Sacred Pools before heading back.

We tried to make it to the Red Sand beach just past the road to Hana, but it was very treacherous so we decided not to risk it. Both amazingly great views, and good places to stop and rest a bit while also taking some great pictures. So amazing! We also stopped at the Black Sand beach and Hamoa beach. It was spectacular with its assortment of beautiful plants and flowers, but the star of the show is the painted eucalyptus trees. Just down the road from that we found an arboretum. We thought about going to the Garden of Eden but it was $30 for the both of us and we thought was too much. Our trip consisted of seeing many waterfalls along the side of the road, but getting to a few of them from the road are quite dangerous so be weary of that. It definitely helped when locals would drive the opposite way towards us dangerously fast. Please take it from me and honk as you make your sharp turns. The bridges are all one way, and there are yield signs for oncoming traffic. The entire road after that becomes a never ending hairpin turn back and forth.

Once you get past the bamboo forest is when the road becomes more difficult. I found it interesting how lovers carved their initials in the bamboo. It was a steep walk down but luckily you can hold onto bamboo as you walk down.

Again you need shoes most likely. There are a few entrances to the bamboo forest, and my wife and I took the third and last entrance. We didnt actually swim in the pool of the falls, but explored it for a while before moving on. We parked on the side of the road and walked to the entrance. It is quite a trek from the beginning of the property to the waterfall but its worth it. We stopped at MM #2, which is Twin Falls. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring the waterfalls, bamboo forests and beaches. First of all its absolutely beautiful! I have never seen such a magnificent landscape to drive through. So I wish I would have been told more about the Road to Hana before my wife and I explored the road while on our honeymoon. Even with a winery stop at the end, we were exhausted and hungry when we got back. Meals were not included in our package so we had to bring our own snacks. Unfortunately when dropping us off, we were the last ones the be dropped off, so our day was over 12hrs long by the time we got back to our hotel. He had the twists and turns navigated to less than a handwidth. The roads were narrow tortuous and the views are admittedly spectacular. The weather poured down on and off during the day, so the photo ops were further reduced. We stopped in quite few places to take pics, but often it was a "drive by shooting" due to the roads and the traffic. So by the time we really got going it was a few hours later. From there the minibus picked up others from Kihei and Kapalua etc and then we went to a central spot to join with other travellers from other parts of Maui. We were told to be ready 10min before pickup at 6:30am from our Wailea hotel. We found this on Viator, and thoughtit would be worth it, given the reviews. I really wanted to give this more stars, but having done equivalent day trips around Big Island and Oahu, this one seemed unending.
